Increased Police Presence at Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights

If you visit Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights this year you will see an increased number of Orlando Police Officers present.  In fact you will probably see one or more at almost every attraction!  Getting arrested here could turn out to be your worst nightmare.  Big crowds combined with drinking could lead to increased crime and more people getting arrested.  Police are not hesitating to arrest anyone who gets out of hand, whether it be getting into a fight, carrying illegal drugs, or just being drunk and disorderly.

Here are some tips when visiting the parks this Halloween season:

  1. Carry as little as possible into the park.  Keep expensive belongings at home and try not to carry a purse at all.  There are long lines to get in and if you carry a purse or bag you will have to wait in an additional line to have it searched. Even though security is tight, be careful. Recently a woman claims that she was robbed in a restroom at Universal Orlando Islands of Adventure by a woman with a box cutter.

  2. Don’t bring any weapons or drugs! I know this sounds obvious but people continue to do it.  There are metal detectors at the entrances to Halloween Horror Nights and the cops are right there waiting to arrest anyone with illegal items or contraband.

  3. Don’t drink heavily and try to avoid alcohol completely.  If you drink and get out of hand the police will not hesitate to arrest you.  Tensions are increased when you have large groups of people combined with alcohol.

  4. If you do get confronted by law enforcement, be polite and respectful.  If you are being accused of something remember ANYTHING you say can be used against you and never admit to any wrongdoing without speaking to an attorney first.

  5. Avoid conflict at all costs.  The best way to avoid trouble is to not put yourself in a position where you might find trouble.  If someone gets confrontational with you, walk away.

  6. DUI – If you do plan on drinking, make sure you have a designated driver or take a cab.  Trust me it cost a lot more to get a DUI than to pay for a $20 cab ride. Police are out on the streets late night looking for drunk drivers and you can be pulled over for the slightes of errors.

Have a safe Halloween and don’t get arrested.  If you do get arrested, make sure you talk to an experienced criminal defense attorney as soon as possible.  The Fighter Law Firm offers free consultations and you may call 24 hours a day.  If we can not take your call at the time you call, we can usually get back to you within a few hours.
