Dating violence is a serious and deeply personal issue that affects thousands of people each year. If you are in a relationship where you feel threatened, harmed, or controlled, it’s important to know that you are not alone—and help is available.
At Fighter Law, we stand with survivors of dating violence and are here to help you take back control.
In Florida, dating violence refers to violence between individuals who have or had a continuing and significant romantic or intimate relationship. It can include physical abuse, threats, stalking, and other forms of intimidation or harm.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911. Your safety comes first.
1. Seek Safety
If you can, remove yourself from the situation and go somewhere safe. Reach out to trusted friends or family—or a domestic violence shelter. You can find a list of Florida shelters here: FCADV Shelter Directory
2. Document Everything
Save any messages, photos, or evidence that can support your case later. This includes texts, voicemails, emails, and injuries.
3. File for an Injunction (Restraining Order)
Florida allows victims of dating violence to seek a protective injunction, even if no criminal charges have been filed. This legal order can prohibit your abuser from contacting you or coming near you.
